The earth we walk upon (or pave over) contains thousands of tiny ecosystems, many of which are vital to our survival.

The horticultural exhibition of Expo 17 will be a tribute to the Earth, its complex ecosystems, and the life they sustain. Trees and gardens will be planted throughout, creating a breathtaking display of plant life from all over the world.

The housing exhibition of Expo 17 will explore our relationship with the Earth and our need for shelter from the elements. The site itself, on the banks of the Saint Lawrence River, is a former industrial landfill. Once reclaimed, a brand new community, Habitat 2017, will be constructed.

After Expo 17, the trees and gardens will remain. Habitat 2017 will expand as further tracts of land are reclaimed and integrated with existing communities.
