Fire is energy. From the early days of the simple hearth, to today’s heating systems, huge amounts of energy have been consumed to keep us alive and comfortable.
Expo 17 will showcase new ways of harnessing and conserving energy. The housing exhibition, Habitat 2017, will be a model of a green community, demonstrating what we can do to reduce our impact on the environment.
Fire is also celebration. Ile Notre-Dame, the site of the recognised exhibition, will be a gathering of nations around a collective hearth, a meeting of minds and creative spirit. La Ronde, the amusement area on Ile Sainte-Hélène, will celebrate laughter and merriment through thrilling rides and entertainment.
Excessive energy consumption is depleting the Earth and altering its atmosphere. For our Sesquicentennial, Canadians will be encouraged to support numerous conservation initiatives.
